Another Uber driver arrested

This time in Washington D.C.
District of Columbia police say detectives have arrested a man after a woman reported an Uber car service driver had sexually assaulted her.
Police arrested 31-year-old Reshad Chakari of Alexandria, Virginia, early Saturday. He is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.
Police say the alleged assault occurred in the early morning hours of July 20 in the 1400 block of Rhode Island Avenue in Washington. According to a police report, the woman said Chakari touched her while she was sleeping in the car.
This isn’t the first time an Uber driver has been arrested and charged with a sexually assault. This makes us wonder about Uber’s screening process and how effective it really is. A couple of weeks ago we also had an Uber driver go rouge and took a CEO on a wild and dangerous police chase. Lucky for everyone involved no one was injured due to the reckless actions of the Uber driver.
Stopuber’s campaign to ‘warn’ potential riders of the risks of using ridesharing services will not wean. In our campaign, riders reported harrowing tales of drunk drivers breaking traffic rules, increased instances of stalking, and drivers overcharging their customers and much more. Uber customer be warned!  Be safe ride yellow!

Doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m a taxi driver and had a couple of incidents with these drivers myself. Funny thing is I’m not sure how legal their service is but some of them think they’re above the law.
    • as a uber driver I have seen many taxis do some terrible driving speeding double parking block intersections just dam rude. also if your service is so good how come all my uber riders say cabs are dirty smell and take all day to get there.

A Seattle taxi driver accused of groping a young woman riding in his cab has been charged with sexual assault.
King County prosecutors contend Yellow Cab driver Hassan Allaleh grabbed the 22-year-old after picking her up in the early hours of June 7 on Capitol Hill.
Allaleh, 34, is alleged to have tried to pull open the woman’s legs before grabbing her breasts and crotch. According to charging papers, the woman was able to fend him off long enough to flee the cab.
Allaleh was previously investigated in late 2013 after another passenger claimed he grabbed her and tried to kiss her against her will. Those allegations remain unresolved, though Allaleh has not been charged in relation to the November incident.

I’m surprised theses drivers haven’t blamed what they did on the women. Uber is suppose to stop people from drinking and driving but I guess uber hasn’t told its drivers to leave the drunk women alone.
  4. Taxi smear campaign. So transparent.

I don’t believe this story uber is awesome! Love my water and mints.
  6. I think Uber is a great concept and service but I do think they’re growing too fast. Customer service is almost non existing and very frustrating. My motto take care of the customers and customers will take care of you.

They promised me around 70k a year but working 60 hrs a week I’ll probably make around 35k! NOT Break Backing Work But Pay Sucks. Great for the public but drives not worth it and I drove for 10 months.

Uber drivers cannot over charge their riders, the app provides a map and calculates the fare. Taxi drivers on the other hand have always been a bunch of rip offs. They take alternate routes to the requested destination so the fare becomes twice as much. When you need a cab, you call the company and they put you on hold for 10 minutes. I feel a lot safer with uber and it’s highly convenient. And all these lies about drivers being underpaid, uber drivers take home 80% of each trip. The last guy I talked to was making an average of a 1000 a week, and he was doing it part time. Taxi companies are done for.

Take home 80%? Learn the difference between gross revenue and profit. Gas and depreciation of the vehicle have to be deducted. If UberX vehicles actually were required to have real insurance, that would also be a considerable expense.
  9. Über is adding some 50,000 drivers a month. At their size a few bad apples will certainly slip through the cracks. Also, we don’t know what actually happened. Right now this is just an open investigation. To me it sounds like this was probably a drunk woman that fell asleep in the back and the driver was attempting to wake her.
    • Yeah and the bad apples issue is totally unique to Uber. As we all know, there are no bad taxi drivers.
      This site is so pathetic.
